Ruhama Veltfort has been helping academic, literary, and business writers for over fifteen years.

Professional Experience

EDITING:

  • Developed a dramatic first chapter for scholarly book that included topics in maritime history and economics, making it accessible to a wider audience (The Voyage of the Frolic).
  • Reorganized fictionalized interview material for emphasis and readability, and revised chapter order (Chinese Intellectuals on the World Frontier).
  • Rewrote introduction and substantially edited fourth chapter to serve as first chapter (Development and Disenchantment in Rural Tunisia).
  • Trained non-native English speakers in written expression in American English, familiarizing them with American culture and idioms.
  • Edited scientific papers for clarity, grammar, and style, preparing them for journal submission (Department of Anesthesia, University of California San Francisco).
WRITING:

  • Author of a novel, two collections of poetry and several short stories.
  • Selected and wrote descriptions of community cultural resources for a teachers' resource guide to be used in a multicultural social studies program.
  • Researched and co-wrote a literature review article on gender differences among mental patients treated with psychosurgery.
  • Developed and produced a bi-monthly feature for a local newspaper.
